UK-founded insurtech Simply Business reaches one million customers

UK, 30 August 2024, Simply Business, a digital broker that serves small businesses and landlords, today announced it has reached the major milestone of one million customers globally, cementing its position as one of the UK’s biggest – and fastest growing – providers of business insurance.

Launched in 2005 in the UK before expanding to the U.S., the company achieved this landmark in less than 20 years of trading and has more than doubled its customer base in the last five-and-a-half years.

With in-house underwriting capabilities and a tailored panel of over 35 leading insurers, Simply Business offers insurance to sole traders, microbusinesses, landlords and small businesses across more than 1,200 different trades and professions. Customers can purchase and manage their policies through the company’s award-winning contact centres in Northampton and Atlanta, GA, or its unique online digital experience.

The company recently invested significantly in its UK contact centre – crowned Best Large Contact Centre of the Year at the UK Contact Centre Forum Awards 2023 – with the opening of an expansive new office for its 400-strong Northampton team.

Earlier this month, the company launched a new brand campaign in the UK – ‘Simply The Best’ – the TV ad featuring Tina Turner’s iconic hit ‘The Best’ that captures the reassuring feeling of knowing your business is protected. Putting a humorous spin on the well-known chorus, “Simply the best!” becomes “Simply Business!” amongst other lyric changes – creating a catchy song that the brand hopes will help even more small business owners remember where to turn for business insurance should they need support in finding cover.

Amidst a cost-of-living crisis, Simply Business created a range of initiatives to support the success of small businesses across the UK. In 2020, the business launched its Business Boost grant program in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now in its fifth year, the company awards one small business with a £25,000 cash injection each year. To date, Simply Business has received more than 75,000 applications and has awarded over £85,000 in cash grants to small business owners.
